December 08, 2014

The close of a year usually causes us to reflect on the past. Where have we been? What have we done?

For 9 million Syrians who have lost homes, education and family, the tendency would seem to be to look back—to long for the past, and all that was. When an emergency becomes a prolonged crisis, such as in Syria, the greatest need is for a response that helps the most vulnerable move beyond survival and shift their eyes to a hopeful future.

At Questscope, we reflect on where we have been, and what we have learned. With your support, we begin another year walking alongside the most vulnerable—out of the trap of violence, fear and isolation.

We invite you to join us in putting the last, first. Please consider an end of the year gift to provide a future for a generation of Syrian youth, their families and communities.

Reflecting on 2014:

  • We have over 100 Syrian volunteers mentoring children in the Zaatari refugee camp who do get into trouble because they do not go to school and don’t feel like they belong;
  • Overall, more than 1,500 young Syrian refugees found a sense of belonging, and champions they can trust;
  • We have volunteer teachers in 30 centers throughout urban communities in Jordan that commit themselves to helping youth learn, through a certified non-formal education program that links them to a future. This crisis has impacted Jordanian youth too, and we remain committed to making sure they have a second chance.

Thank you for being with us in 2014 and we hope you’ll continue partnering with us in 2015!
