Growth Development Director

Supervisory Capacity:  Engagement Manager, Communications Manager, Admin Staff

The Role

The Growth Development Director reports to the Chief Executive Officer, tasked as a member of the senior leadership team to create a sustainable financial foundation to advance the values, culture and services of Questcope.

We seek a well-connected, highly energetic, emotionally insightful, and intellectually courageous person to attract new donors and cultivate current donors in co-creative partnerships that increase the capacity of Questscope for innovation and sustained impact with marginalized groups and individuals.

Responsibilities

1) To advance the generosity of a diverse range of donors/partners for innovative, “game-changing” achievements in putting the last, first;

2) To establish beneficial networks and robust support systems that support effective cooperation between donors and Questscope;

3) To tell the story of Questscope to amplify the trustworthiness and appeal of Questscope “brand” as a basis for marketing and communication strategies grounded in evidence of impact.

Advancing generosity

▪ Identify, design for, cultivate, and gain access to diverse philanthropic revenue streams – to accelerate collaboration with globally minded individuals, multicultural-minded churches and mosques, and corporations/foundations – emphasizing evidence of impact of transformation of people, institutions and systems.

Cultivate active local Communities of Practice (COPs) - networks for envisioning together – promoting mutual learning and communication that strengthen donors’ roles as assets in co-creating impact meaningful to them.

▪ Build hands-on, “high-touch” donor experiences within Questcope contexts that include events, trips, media experiences, webinars, storytelling (both donor and beneficiary) and opportunities for thought leadership.

▪ Facilitate board members’ abilities to capitalize on their unique contributions of effort, insight and experience that enhance Questscope’s ability to solicit significant large gifts and to confirm fulfillment of donors’ generous intentions.

▪ Major gifts: Build and maintain a portfolio of large donors (in excess of $10K p.a.), doubling donor numbers each year for the next 3 years; create a planned giving/legacy program; grow Donor Advised Fund participation across top donor regions, both geographical and digitally. 

 

Establishing networks and systems

  • Implement Donor Engagement Process across Questscope to manage donor discovery, identification, qualification, cultivation, negotiation, solicitation and stewardship.  
  • Steward, maintain and report on all philanthropic sources, ensuring relevant tracking of outcomes to understand impact and make strategic decisions
  • Maintain/improve donor database with detailed call reports and automated reports on gift history, ticklers for stewardship steps and reminders on project or focus interests for donors on potential projects (donor segmentation) on regional, thematic, or cost descriptors. 
  • Manage the fundraising budget for the most benefit for the least cost.

Telling the story

  • This entails solid teamwork in partnership with the Communications Manager (position currently vacant)
  • Ensure dynamic delivery of the essential communications messages that create high awareness of our unique accomplishments, relationships and benefits.
  • Access new technology and new media formats for levels of communications messaging – e.g., TikTok, Instagram, Pinterest, Threads, LinkedIn, etc. – collaborating with people of expertise in faith-based groups as well as those in a wider humanitarian audience.
  • Partner with communication manager to position and tell our story, create assets and materials compelling for each audience segment, emphasizing storytelling by beneficiaries/clients, and continually expressing gratitude and appreciation to donors and friends.
  • Collaborate on a marketing strategy for brand-awareness through a creative, cost-effective comms plan to increase brand warmth with new prospects, organizations and influencers domestically and internationally. 

As a member of a small team that wears many hats, there will also be other duties as assigned.

20-25% travel (domestic & international)

Preferred Experiences

  • Work in minority cultures in US and internationally, especially Arabic environments
  • Work with people from diverse religious traditions
  • Proficiency in Arabic is a plus

Education

  • Minimum BA/BS
  • Preferred: Master’s degree in Philanthropy and Development or related field, or equivalent experience

  • Compensation: Salary range $95,000-$105,00 annually, based on experience
